Coimbatore: Two people were killed in the district on Monday in as many road accidents involving goods autorickshaws. In one of the incidents, a 60-year-old woman pedestrian was killed after a goods autorickshaw knocked her down on Kovaipudur-Sundakkamuthur road. The city traffic investigation wing police identified the deceased as S Vasantha Kumari, a resident of Kamatchi Nagar at Kovaipudur. Police said 28-year-old I Rashid, a native of Kannur district in Kerala, was driving his goods autorickshaw in a rash and in a negligent manner when the vehicle hit the woman. She was taken to the government hospital at Sundakkamuthur, where doctors declared her brought dead. Police have registered a case against Rashid and further investigation is on. In another accident, 37-year-old K Munusamy, a resident of Karupparayanpalayam near Mayilampatti, was killed after a goods autorickshaw rammed his bike, which was on the wrong side, on Serayampalayam road at Thottipalayam on Monday. tnn
