VADODARA: The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) – marketer of Amul milk and milk products – has decided to hike milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across the country from Tuesday (March 1) morning, reports Prashant Rupera. Amul had earlier increased milk prices in July 2021.
In 2020 when the pandemic had hit the country, Amul had kept the milk prices untouched. With the latest price hike, in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra markets the price of Amul Gold will be Rs 60 per litre, Amul Taaza will be Rs 48 per litre whereas that of Amul Shakti will be Rs 54 per litre.
Consumers in metros like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata will also be paying the same as those in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra. But consumers in markets like Pune, Vadodara and Surat will end up paying more than their counterparts in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra.
“This price hike is being done due to rise in the cost of energy, packaging, logistics, cattle feeding cost…,” said Jayen Mehta, chief operating officer of GCMMF.
