Guwahati: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) combined competitive exam (mains), 2020 will be held as per the already published schedule, as the Gauhati High Court on Monday dismissed a writ petition rejecting the grounds cited by a few candidates praying for postponement/ rescheduling of the exams. The exam is scheduled to be held from February 21 to 27.
While urging to postpone the exams, the petitioners had cited several grounds, including APSC’s violation of Section-II (C) (7) of the Assam Public Services Combined Competitive Examination (Amendment) Rules, 2019, which says the e-admission certificate has to be issued three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The petitioners had stated that the rule was not being complied with and issuance of e-admission certificate merely seven days before the exams was unfair.
Advocate Pankaj Protim Dutta said, “The high court has refused to accept the grounds, based on which the petitioners had urged to postpone the exams after the APSC submitted that postponement or rescheduling of exams was not possible.”
The petitioners had challenged the timing of the exam on several grounds, including that the APSC has not issued the selection and rejection lists of candidates; it has not disclosed the word limit and page limit for the Essay Paper, and has not disclosed the pattern of optional paper II.
