Kalaburagi: Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Friday that instructions have been issued to all police stations in the state to amicably resolve the loudspeaker row by holding peace committee meetings and adhering to the law.
The CM told reporters: “The (resolution) process is going on. There is a high court order on azaan specifying the decibel level. The DGP has issued a circular in this regard.”
Some Hindu outfits have been demanding that the loudspeakers on mosques be removed and the Supreme Court’s order on noise pollution be implemented. They have threatened to play bhajans every morning if loudspeakers from mosques are not removed. This was after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray demanded that loudspeakers be removed from mosques across the state.
