Coimbatore: Among the 15 active Covid-19 cases in the district, only one patient is undergoing treatment in a healthcare facility, while the remaining patients are in home quarantine. The patient is a 62-year-old man, who is getting treated at a private hospital.
Meanwhile, the district reported no new Covid cases on Thursday. As many as three patients recovered from the infection on the day.
An official with the health department said the district had been reporting cases in single-digit for the past several days, even as 600-800 samples were tested daily.
The patients are placed in home quarantine based on their willingness.
The official said closing of Covid wards in private hospitals was not an issue and the department could handle a sudden spike in Covid cases, iof any, in the near future.
At the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, the beds earmarked for Covid-19 patients are vacant with the last patient getting discharged from the facility a couple of days ago.
