Gurgaon: In the aftermath of the Chintels Paradiso tower collapse, the residents of M3M Woodshire in Sector 107 are finding themselves in a similar predicament.
The residents claim there’s regular water leakage in the basement of the towers and huge cracks and rust on the pillars and beams that pose a constant threat to the lives of some 850 families living in the condominium.
The condominium RWA has already written to the deputy commissioner of Gurgaon and the department of town and country planning (DTCP), seeking their immediate intervention in the matter. They have also demanded an independent structural audit of the society so that precautionary measures can be taken to ensure the safety of buildings and the residents living here.
Swaraj Verma, the secretary of the Woodshire Condominium Association, said that as the society is located close to the Najafgarh drain, continuous stagnation of sewage water in the wetland in the vicinity is causing water accumulation in the basement.
Spread across 19 acres of land, the project was launched in 2013 and the possession of flats in 18 towers started in 2018. “Since our society is located near a wetland, there is a need to get a proper structural audit of the building done by independent agencies, so that effective measures can be taken beforehand,” said OP Meena, RWA president of the society.
When contacted, a representative of the developer said that the safety of all the residents has always been their priority. “We have been engaging with all our residents, including those of M3M Woodshire, on a regular basis. We have already engaged M/s Bureau Veritas, French firm, for conducting various tests on the basement structure, highlighting areas requiring repair and also proposing the methodology for repairs.”
