Dharwad: Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are fighting an internal war for the post of the chief minister and both are competing with each other in appeasing minorities, said Union minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi here on Saturday.
He said this while replying to reporters on Siddaramaiah’s charge that BJP was behind a youth posting a status message on social media. “Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar think that by appeasing Muslims they will become chief minister,” he said.
“The Congress has been floored in the recent elections in five state assemblies and in UP, it lost deposit in 387 out of the 390 seats it contested. Similar is the situation in Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. It is desperate to save its face in Karnataka and is busy with appeasement politics,” Joshi said.
He was all praise for Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner Labhuram and his team for acting swiftly against the perpetrators of violence in Hubballi. He said police will book all those responsible for the violence directly and indirectly and punish them. “Whoever the mastermind of the violence is, will be brought to book. Police will do the work of correcting the minds of the masterminds,” he said.
Police are also looking into the possible link of the perpetrators of Hubballi violence with Bangladesh, he said and added that there is no need for the political leadership to react to police work. The probe is on, let it continue, he said.
