Dharwad: The finance department has directed the department of public instruction to approve proposals for the appointment of 204 assistant teachers in aided private schools in Dharwad division.
The finance department has asked the principal secretary, department of primary and secondary education, to issue the approval orders after the commencement of academic year 2022-23.
MLC S V Sankanur said FD and public instruction department had earlier permitted private aided educational institutions to fill up 318 vacancies of teachers caused by retirement, death or resignation up to December 31, 2015. The managements of private aided schools had recruited teachers and sent the proposals for FD’s approval. While it approved 114 appointments, the approval for remaining 204 appointments were kept pending citing economy measures and the pandemic as reasons.
Now that the FD has lifted the ban, 204 teachers will get their appointment approved and start receiving their salaries as per the government scale. Legislative council chairman Basavaraj Horatti, who represents West Teachers’ constituency in the council, has thanked the government for clearing the teachers’ appointments. TNN
