Coimbatore: Accusing the DMK and AIADMK of bribing voters, Makkal Needhi Maiam has demanded the election commission to defer the urban local body polls in Coimbatore district.
MNM functionaries said that DMK men were distributing gifts to all households with scant regard to rules. “DMK men are not bothered about police or election officials. They were distributing gifts without hiding their identity, displaying their leader’s photographs,” alleged MNM vice-president Thangavel.
MNM functionaries said that AIADMK men are not far behind. “If DMK cadres bribe voters openly, AIADMK men do it discretely,” Thangavel said. He alleged that there were poll code violations by BJP too. “Though there are violations of the poll code across the state, it is too high in Coimbatore,” he said.
“We want the election commission to defer the polls in Coimbatore,” he said.TNN
