‘Disco King’, Bappi Lahiri left for his heavenly abode on February 15 at the age of 69 in a Mumbai hospital. After the arrival of his son Bappa and his family from Los Angeles, Bappi Da’s mortal remains were taken from his residence to Vile Parle cremation ground where friends and family members bid final goodbye to the Gold-man. He was then laid to rest according to Hindu traditions. The legendary singer died due to multiple health complications and OSA (obstructive sleep apnea). Talking about how Bappi Da’s final moments, his son-in-law Gobind Bansal shared, “He had been admitted in the hospital for three weeks but was discharged and was back home. He also had his dinner last night at around 8:30-9 pm. But within half an hour of having his dinner, he got a heart attack. His pulse rate had gotten low. He was rushed to the hospital and the doctors declared at 11:44 that he is no more.” As soon as the news of Bappi Da’s demise broke, fans, friends and colleagues from the film industry mourned the loss and offered their condolences to the bereaved family. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too prayed for the departed soul along with other celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Ajay Devgn, Subhash Ghai, Siddharth Malhotra, Anupam Kher among others. Bappi Lahiri, fondly called the Disco King of the 80s and 90s, is known for his superhit songs like ‘I Am A Disco Dancer’, ‘Yaad Aa Raha Hai Tera Pyaar’ from ‘Disco Dancer’, ‘Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re’ from ‘Saaheb’, ‘Ooh La La Tu Hai Meri Fantasy’ from ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Tamma Tamma Loge’ from ‘Thanedaar’, ‘Tune Maari Entriyaan’ from ‘Gunday’ and many more. He was last seen in one of the weekend episodes of Bigg Boss 15 with Salman Khan. Bappi Lahiri’s last Bollywood song was ‘Bhankas’ which was a part of Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor’s 2020 movie ‘Baaghi 3’. For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
