Gurgaon: A burqa-clad woman, believed to be an Egyptian national, allegedly stabbed a cabbie at Rajiv Chowk on Tuesday morning. Though the woman was arrested moments later, police said they were unable to interrogate her due to language barrier.
Around 11am, Raghuraj, the cabbie, was waiting for passengers at Rajiv Chowk. Suddenly, the woman appeared and knocked on his cab’s window.
“As soon as I rolled down the window to ask about her destination, the woman pulled out a knife and stabbed me on my right shoulder. When I looked at her, she snatched my face with her nails,” said Raghuraj, who was rushed to the Civil hospital for first aid.
Though the woman tried to flee towards the Civil Lines area, a police team stationed at the busy intersection soon managed to nab her. However, the accused misbehaved with some woman cops who tried to calm her down.
The woman was later taken to Civil Lines police station. Gurgaon police later alerted the Egyptian embassy about the incident.
An FIR was filed against the woman under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 324 (causing hurt with dangerous weapons) of IPC. “Sections of the Foreigner’s Act could also be invoked in the FIR,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
