Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has resumed functioning of its biomethanation plant, which was installed two years ago, which will be able to treat around five tonnes of organic waste daily.
GMC commissioner Devasish Sharma said 800 units of electricity will be generated from the 5 tonnes per day waste and 450 kg of manure.
The generated electricity will be used to operate the plant and street lights.
The plant was installed in August 2020 at Chatribari on the bank of the Borsola beel. TNN
