Raipur: Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey conferred state awards on 41 people who have achieved a niche in their respective fields on the occasion of state’s 23rd foundation celebration in the state capital on Tuesday.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel presided over the state award function. A total of 33 awards were given on behalf of 17 government departments.
Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh award for outstanding work in the field of upliftment of tribals and other backward classes went to Narayan Markam while Chakradhar samman for music and arts went to Vedmani Singh Thakur. Mrs Jayanti Yadav and Pandit Ram were jointly given the Dau Mandraji award for folk arts and handicraft. Kishore Sahu national award for Hindi and Chhattisgarhi cinema direction was conferred on Palash Waswani while Kishore Sahu Samman creative screenplay in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi cinema was conferred on Manu Nayak who had made the first Chhattisgarhi film in 1965.
Veteran journalist Sudeep Thakur was honoured with Pt Madhav Rao Sapre Rashtriya Rachnatmak Samman for creative writing and contribution to Hindi while senior journalist Dr K N Kishore was conferred Madhukar Kher memorial journalism award for his contribution to English journalism (print media category). Similarly, Dhananjay Verma was given the Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Journalism Award for Hindi journalism (print media), and Amitesh Pandey and Dr Vaibhav Shiv Pandey were jointly given the same award in the electronic media category. Ganesh Kar was honoured with Chhattisgarh Apravasi Bharatiya Samman.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel announced from the stage of ‘Alankaran Samaroh’ in the state capital that every district headquarter of the state will have a life-size statue of Chhattisgarh Mahtari. The chief minister unveiled the 11-ft height statue weighing more than 1.5 quintal on the premises of Raipur collectorate on Tuesday. Brass is used in the making of the statue.
The chief minister said that Chhattisgarh is the first to organize a national tribal dance festival in the world. This will help connect the world. Expressing concern over the growing threat to mother nature, the chief minister said, “We can preserve the environment by preserving the tribal culture as they are close to nature and are real caretakers of nature.”
The chief minister also said that the state awards will inspire the others to work for the betterment of the society.
