GURUGRAM: The Haryana Sehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) on Monday demolished two houses and four shops of gangster Kaushal, which were illegally built on government land in Naharpur Rupa.
The 600-sq-yard land was acquired by the authority long ago for the development of Sector 33 but over the years it was illegally encroached upon by Kaushal, who constructed shops and houses on it.
Estate officer 2 of HSVP (Gurgaon) Sanjeev Singhla said notice was given to the occupants to vacate the land till Sunday. “When they did not clear the land, we carried out the demolition drive on Monday,” he added.
The demolition drive started around 8am and continued for five hours. SDM Ravinder Yadav, DCP (east) Virender Vij and ACP (Sadar) Sanjeev Bhalara were present at the spot along with 200 police personnel.
Police said more than 35 cases of murder, loot, dacoity, and extortion are registered against gangster Kaushal and he is currently in jail.
The Haryana government is carrying out a drive to demolish properties linked to the gangsters, many of which have been razed in the past two months.
Earlier on September 17, a four-storey house of gangster Sube Gujjar constructed over 1.75 acres of land in the foothills of Aravali was demolished.
