Haveri: A 22-year-old man was gored to death during a bull-taming event at Betgeri village of Hirekerur taluk on Friday. The incident has also left more than five people injured. The deceased, Shanmukh, was a resident of Guddada Hosalli village in the taluk. The villagers of Betgeri had organised the bull-taming event without taking permission from police or the district administration, said sources. The injured persons have been shifted to a Hirekerur Government Hospital by the organisers. A local doctor declared Shanmukh brought dead, sources added. A case has been registered at Hamsabavi police station.
Drive against triple riding launched
Davanagere: Police have launched a drive to check triple riding on two-wheelers. SP CB Ryshyanth has warned motorists not to ride with three members on a single two-wheeler as it is violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. Traffic police caught one person for triple riding on Wednesday, and the court imposed Rs 3,300 on him, and also ordered cancellation of the rider’s driving licence for three months, the SP said.
