Gurgaon: The MCG House on Thursday approved the transfer of 50 acres of land in Balola village to GMDA for setting up a depot for the Gurgaon-Faridabad metro project. The House also approved the transfer of another 50 acres of land in Sikanderpur to the forest department in exchange for the land in Balola.
Both plots are owned by the corporation. “Land for the project will be transferred at the circle rate. We will transfer the land to the department of town and country planning at the circle rate of 100 acres, since we are transferring 50 acres in Balola and 50 acres of land in Sikanderpur,” said MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja in the House meeting held on Thursday.
The land in Balola village falls under ‘gair mumkin pahar’ (uncultivable hill) and comes under sections 4 and 5 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA), 1900. Since the land is currently under the forest department for plantation, MCG will instead provide 50 acres of its land in Sikanderpur, which is also under ‘gair mumkin pahar’, to the department. Subhash Yadav, the nodal officer of MCG’s environment and sustainability wing, pointed out that the land to be provided to the forest department for plantation is in Sikanderpur and not in Nathupur as mentioned in the House meet’s agenda. Yadav also appealed the House to approve the proposal.
The Gurgaon-Faridabad metro corridor will be 32.1km long and will have 12 stations — Bata Chowk, Pyali Chowk, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, Badkhal Enclave, Pali Chowk, Mangar police chowki, Gwalpahari, Sector 56, Sushant Lok, Sushant Lok-3, Rosewood City and Vatika Chowk.
The MCG House on Thursday also approved the transfer of land for setting up a shooting range in Gurgaon’s Kadarpur village. The House has approved the transfer of 28 acres of land in Sikanderpur Ghosi to the forest department in lieu of the land in Kadarpur.
