Hubballi: The Central Railways Hospital in Hubballi has been granted accreditation from the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to offer post graduate diploma courses for five years, starting January 2022 to December 2026. The hospital has been deemed eligible to offer courses in family medicine (two seats), obstetrics and gynaecology (two seats) and paediatrics (two seats).
Chief medical director for South Western Railway (SWR) Dr Vilas Gunda said that the accreditation would help add more specialists in the healthcare system. “Since 50% of the seats are reserved for medical officer in the Indian Railway Health Services, this will help increase the number of specialists in the railways,” Dr Gunda said.
South Western Railway general manager Sanjeev Kishore expressed his congratulations to the SWR’s medical department, and appealed to postgraduate medical aspirants to use the opportunity.
