Speaking to BT about the same, she said, “From the minute I was approached for Komal’s role, I wanted to be a part of the film, irrespective of the screen time, for the sheer subject of the film and the cast and crew involved. Komal is Sumi’s (Bhumi Pednekar) first love, from their college days, who, due to her circumstances and choices, given the society she lives in, goes on to marry in a traditional family set up. To play lesbian, in such an important film that takes us a step closer to the day the queer community find their rightful place in our society, is an opportunity I’m grateful for.”
