KALABURAGI: Members of Kalyana Karnataka Pratyeka Rajya Horata Samiti on Monday charged the state government with meting out step-motherly treatment to Kalyana Karnataka region.
Police arrested 20 members of the Samiti when they tried to hoist a separate state flag at Sardar Vallabhai Patel Circle here. After arresting the agitators near the district court, police kept them at Gulbarga University campus till afternoon and “released” later.
Samiti president M S Patil Naribol said successive governments, including those of BJP, JD(S) and Congress, have betrayed Kalyana Karnataka region. “Union government has taken away many projects from the region, and these include IIT proposed at Raichur and AIIMS proposed in Kalaburagi,” he alleged.
“If the same attitude continues towards the region, we will start an agitation for a separate statehood for Kalyana Karnataka,” he warned.
