JIND: Haryana education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar on Saturday stated that government schools’ playgrounds would be given to private coaches along with some conditions and a plan would be made for this.
At Safidon town of Jind district on Saturday, Gujjat also cleared the air on the controversy over the BJP-JJP state government asking players to register themselves by paying Rs 100 every month to use stadia in the state. Kanwar Pal said, “I was not aware about the decision taken by the Haryana government for charging money from players. But I am planning to hand over government-run schools’ playgrounds to private coaches along with a condition that they would not charge any fees from school students. They will charge money from outsiders only. With this move, schools will get expert coaches as schools’ grounds are lying vacant now. Therefore, I have no objection to giving school grounds to private coaches and a plan is being prepared for this,” he added.
The state government has now changed its own decision on asking players to pay for using stadia, after the decision invited criticism. The latest move might also trigger another fresh controversy. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Haryana affairs incharge Sushil Gupta condemned Gujjar’s statement and said the Haryana government was looking to hand over schools in private hands.
