Silchar: CPM politburo member and former MP Brinda Karat slammed performances of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-talked about “double-engine” government, saying “one of the engines is being controlled by Adani and Ambani, whereas the other one is being controlled by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Sangh Parivar.”
Addressing the inaugural session of the three-day 23rd Assam state conference of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Silchar on Tuesday, Karat said Modiji often talks of the double-engine government, which are manned by specific industrialists of BJP’s choice and RSS.
Karat claimed the PM had recently said the CPM is a “threat” to BJP. “He (Modi) is absolutely right. Though Modiji has a factory to create lies, he has spoken the truth for the first time. We do not have any personal enmity, but we are against capitalism. We fight for the common people and will keep fighting for them,” she said.
Former Tripura CM and CPM leader Manik Sarkar said, “The people of India have not seen such a government till date. The country is engulfed in a sea of problems, including unemployment, abnormal rise in prices of commodities and corruption,” he said.
