Hubballi: HDMC contractor Srinivas Kyarakatti has alleged irregularities in awarding the parking contract. He said HDMC officials have caused losses to the civic body by awarding the contract to prices lower than the actual prices fixed by the government, he told reporters here on Saturday. Kyarakatti said four contractors participated in the tender process to bag the contract of maintaining two- and four-wheeler parking in the twin cities. “There is a rule that the tender process be finalised within 90 days. However, the tender was not finalised for more than six months. It got finalised only a few days ago, and by throwing all norms to wind,” he said, adding they will move the court seeking inquiry into the irregularities in the parking tender process.
Award for D’gere doctor
Davanagere: Dr Suresh Hanagavadi, president of Karnataka Haemophilia Society (KHS, Davanagere), has been honoured with National Kannan Memorial Award for his contributions in the field of haemophilia care over the last over three decades. Kerala University for Health Sciences (KUHS) vice-chancellor Dr Mohanan presented the citation and Rs 21,000 to Dr Hanagavadi on Thursday as part of World Hemophila Day celebrations. The award was conferred on him at Jubilee Mission Medical College (JMMC), Thrissur, Kerala. Dr Hanagavadi spoke on ‘Clinico-hematological approach of bleeding disorders’ for PG students and faculty of department of transfusion medicine of JMMC, and interacted with the audience.
KCC Bank bags national award
Dharwad: The Karnataka Central Cooperative Bank, which has jurisdiction over Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts, has been selected for the national award instituted by National Federation of State Cooperative Banks (Nafscob). The award, given in recognition for the bank’s excellent performance in 2019-20, will be presented at a function to be held on April 25 at Raipur in Chattisgad, said chief executive officer K Muniyappa.
State-level karaoke competition
Hubballi: Zak’s Event will conduct a state-level karaoke singing competition on May 5 at Kannada Bhavan here. Director Zameer Khan said for the competition, auditions for junior category (10-25 age group) will be conducted on April 30, and senior category (25-50 age group) on May 1.
