Gurgaon: The MCG on Friday directed officials in the engineering wing to prepare the list of machinery, pumps and manpower required for tackling waterlogging during the monsoon. The officials have been also directed to start desilting and cleaning drains.
“There should be no waterlogging this monsoon, for which pumps, machinery and other equipment required will be made beforehand. The instructions have been given in the meeting to the engineers. The assistant engineers said in the meeting that they have initiated preparations for tackling waterlogging during the rains,” said additional commissioner Jaideep Kumar.
MCG has already set a June 30 deadline for desilting of stormwater drains and creeks, installing machinery for pumping out water from waterlogging-prone areas, creating check dams, cleaning rainwater harvesting systems and completing ongoing stormwater channel projects. The additional commissioner and joint commissioners have been made the nodal officers of their respective zones to monitor monsoon preparedness.
