Kalaburagi: The CID on Thursday arrested Afzalpur Congress MLA MY Patil’s gunman and a city armed reserve constable in connection with irregularities in the recruitment test for police sub-inspectors.
The police arrested the gunman, Hayyali Desai, and constable Rudragouda Patil at Ram Mandir Circle in Kalaburagi city.
Desai was selected in the PSI provision list with the highest marks.
Three invigilators of the Jnana Jyothi English Medium School, which was an exam centre, and three candidates who had written exams at the centre have also been arrested. The husband of BJP leader Divya Hagaragi, who is the school’s president, has also been arrested for helping two candidates escape.
Divya Hagaragi is yet to be arrested.
