Addressing a public rally in Kidwai Nagar area of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on February 18 claimed that before 2017, more than 700 riots happened leaving hundreds of citizens dead.Before 2017, there used to be a riot in Uttar Pradesh every third day. Over 700 riots took place in 5 years and hundreds of civilians were killed. There was curfew in the state for months and months but during our government there was no riot in the state, said CM Yogi.Seven-phase Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh commenced on February 10, and the polling for the first two phases has been held. The third phase of UP polls will be held on February 20.
