Gurgaon: The CM flying squad has raided a Panchgaon hospital run by people without medical degrees from a rented house. The hospital stands accused of conducting surgeries and delivering babies without qualified doctors. It allegedly also used expired medicines and the rubber stamps of qualified doctors without their consent.
On Tuesday, the CM flying squad received information about the hospital run by one Bittu Yadav in the Panchgaon market on the Tauru road. The 14-bed hospital, named Balaji, ran a 24×7 emergency service and had a medical store at the entry, an eye check-up facility on the ground floor, a doctors’ room, a general ward with four beds, an ICU room, an operation theatre, and private rooms.
Dr Praveen Kumar, medical officer, urban public health centre (UPHC), Manesar; Dr Sandeep Kumar, medical officer, PHC, Kashan; and members of the CM flying squad conducted the raid. They found a person, identified as Sonu Kumar, sitting on a doctor’s seat in the hospital with a stethoscope around his neck. He was treating patients but failed to produce any medical degree, said Inderjeet Yadav, the deputy superintendent (DSP) of the CM flying squad. The team also found the hospital owner and ten other nursing and sanitation staff in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the patients were getting treatment in the name of Dr Dharmendra, who was not present at the hospital. “Dr Dharmendra, when contacted, said that he started working with the hospital from August 2021 but has not been visiting it for the past two months. Dr Dharmendra claimed that the hospital has been misusing his stamp and putting a fake signature on the medical file of the patients,” said the DSP.
During the raid, said inspector Harish from the CM flying squad, the team found the hospital delivering babies without a qualified gynaecologist. The hospital performed surgeries without a qualified surgeon, he added. “On inspecting the files of the patients admitted in the hospital, we found that the hospital used the name of Dr Dharmender for their admissions. The prescriptions and other medical records contained signatures of different doctors,” said Harish. The team recovered several forged medical certificates from the hospital.
It also recovered expired medicines, including lifesaving drugs, from the medical store at the hospital. Drugs, in large quantities, were found stored in the hospital outpatient department, operation theatre and other wards. However, the hospital owner could not produce the bills for any. Dr Praveen Kumar said that the hospital had been conducting deliveries of babies without any woman doctor or gynaecologist.
Now, a case has been registered in this matter under sections 15(2)(B) and 15(3) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, and Section 336 (endangering human life) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC at the Bilaspur police station.
