Local authorities reported that the calamities have claimed eighteen lives so far. Videos surfacing on social media show vehicles being dragged away by the floods. Rescue teams of hundreds are working in the affected region to save lives. Petropolis’ city hall has issued a statement fearing that the heavy rains could potentially lead to high numbers of incidents and victims.
