BELAGAVI: As Belagavi city is set for the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations on Tuesday after a three-year gap, the police has arranged for a huge police bandobast to prevent untoward incidents.
As the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) is going to take out a bicycle rally observing the Black Day, the pressure on the police has piled on.
The police have confined the Black Day rally in the southern part of the city, while the major Rajyotsava celebrations are in the north.
Vijay Devane, a Shiv Sena leader from Kolhapur in Maharashtra, has said that MES president Deepak Dalavi through a letter has been alerted that the activist must not enter the Karnataka border. Police feel allowing Devane into the city could lead to a law-and-order problem.
The MES is trying to utilise this occasion to strengthen its vote bank before the karnataka Assembly elections.
The Black Day rally that starts from Sambhaji Garden, will conclude at Maratha Mandir after travelling through Tanaji Galli, Railway Station Road, Hemukalani Chowk, Shani Mandir, Shivaji Garden Road, Narvekar Galli, Shahapur Khadebazar Road, Mahatma Phule Road and Goaves.
The police have diverted traffic routes in the city.
However, those coming from outside to the city to witness or participate in the Rajyotsava, will be told where to park vehicles.
These spots are the KEB open space near KLE hospital, a space near the city corporation near Dharmnath Bhavan, Old Bhaji Market, the Henen Smith College ground , CPED Ground, near Asadkhan Dargah in Camp and the ground of Marathi Vidyaniketha near Deshpande Khoot.
