Samsung has announced a new line of eco-friendly smartphone cases and Galaxy Watch accessories to celebrate Earth Day. The Soth Korean tech giant has partnered with plant-based designer Sean Wotherspoon to design these eco-friendly products. The sustainability line of 2022 will include — Galaxy S21 phone cases and Galaxy Watch 4 watch bands. The new eco-friendly products will be available for purchase on the company’s official website.
As per a report, all the accessories will have three colour options — green, yellow and pink. These new accessories will be covered in cartoon graphics of — the globe, peace signs and other Earth Day-themed graphics. Apart from the watch bands, Samsung is also offering matching digital watch faces for free. These watch faces will be available for download for users who want a singular look for their Galaxy Watch.
According to the company, these new cases and watch bands are completely bio-degradable and will have a low ecological impact once they are discarded. Samsung claims that these device accessories are all sourced sustainably using 100% recycled materials.
This isn’t Samsung’s first sustainability effort as this new lineup will be the company’s second sustainably sourced accessory series. Other than that, Samsung has also been promoting other programs for the recycling of technology waste. Recently, the company added the Galaxy S21 series to its Certified Renewed store, a first-party retailer that deals in refurbished devices.
Earlier reports suggested that Samsung is offering Android users the option to repair their broken hardware using recycled pieces. This will not only bring down the cost of original parts but it will also cut down on plastic waste. However, the company has not officially announced and implemented this program yet.
