Guwahati: A chief judicial magistrate here has summoned Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to appear before his court on February 25 in an alleged case of violation of model code of conduct during the Lok Sabha election in 2019.
The summon order was isued by Kamrup Metropolitan chief judicial magistrate based on a case filed by the state additional chief electoral officer after receiving complaints from the then president and general secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee that Sarma then had given a live interview in a local satellite news channel within 48 hours of the first phase of polls when the MCC was in force.
Sarma said, “I keep on getting summons like this from time to time.”
