According to a survey conducted by the Social Welfare Department and the Institute for Human Development, there are more than twenty thousand beggars in Delhi. Most of them are migrant workers who moved to Delhi for their bread and butter. The government of Delhi has launched a pilot project to train and rehabilitate such daily wagers who have nowhere to go. Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan, an NGO, works closely with the Delhi government at the Roshanara Road centre, to provide vocational training to these homeless people.
